Mauren Lazzaretti assumed the Mato Grosso State Environment Secretariat in January 2019, and was reappointed on January 1, 2023, during Governor Mauro Mendes’ inauguration ceremony for his second term.

She is president of the Brazilian Association of State Environmental Entities (Abema). Her experience in the environmental area and in public management includes stints at Sema itself, acting as Assistant Secretary of Environmental Licensing and Water Resources between 2010 and 2012 and 2016 and 2017. She has a specialization in Tax Law, Environmental Expertise and Auditing, and Civil Procedure. In her legal career, she was also the vice-president of the Brazilian Bar Association’s Environment Commission between 2013 and 2016 and chaired the same commission in the biennium 2016/2018.
