Fermín Chimatani Tayori is an Indigenous leader of the Harakbut people, from the Southeast of the Peruvian Amazon. With studies in social sciences and more than 15 years of experience in the management of conservation and development projects in the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve and its associated landscape (Madre de Dios), as well as in the field of the ten communal reserves of Peru and surrounding territories since 2017. Fermín is an exhibitor in national and international fora on the topics of Amazonian Indigenous REDD+ and the model of co-management between indigenous peoples and the Peruvian State. Former director of ECA Amarakaeri (for two terms) and re-elected president of ANECAP, he is currently a member, as the first Amazonian indigenous person, of the High Management Council of the National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (SERNANP).
