The Governors’ Climate and Forests Task Force congratulates West Kalimantan on the recent award from the Green Climate Fund! On 24th October 2024, the Green Climate Fund approved funding for a project proposal titled “Land-based Mitigation and Adaptation through a Jurisdictional Approach in West Kalimantan.”
Developed since 2020, in collaboration with GIZ and supported by the Fiscal Policy Agency – Ministry of Finance, the proposal aims at financing development of mitigation and adaptation programs, and consist of three components, i.e.: (i) strengthening of institutional framework and policy for a sustainable and resilient forest and landscape management; (ii) improvement in climate resilient agriculture and agroforestry practice; and (iii) application of community-based forest and landscape management. The total budget estimated for the project is US$ 109.6 million, of which US$ 65 million is requested from the GCF, and the project duration is seven years.
