Thomas Rhodes leads USAID’s Amazon Regional Environment Program (AREP), with activities that include indigenous rights, geospatial analysis, fire management, conservation crimes, and commodity-driven deforestation. He was previously USAID’s environment officer in Ecuador, but more recently focused on infrastructure and agricultural development in Haiti, South Sudan, Afghanistan, and Jordan, and led the USAID Mission in Moldova. He has advanced degrees in environmental science from the University of Maine, the University of Toulouse, and the University of Massachusetts.
