Francisca Arara is from the Arara Nation in Acre, Brazil. She has overseen a range of organizations for over 20 years focusing on critical issues such as climate change.
She was the coordinator for the Organization of Indigenous Teachers of Acre (OPIAC), political advisor of the Association of the Movement of Indigenous Environmental Agents of Acre (AMAIAAC) and has collaborated extensively in the construction of the Incentive System for Environmental Services (SISA) of Acre. Most recently, Francisca was head of the Department of Regulation at IMC (Institute for Climate Change of Acre) and serves as Chair of the Regional Committee for Partnerships with Indigenous Peoples and Other Traditional Populations of the Governors’ Climate and Forests Task Force.
