Génesis Romero-Carrión is Ecuadorian and a biologist specialized in Ecology and Management, having graduated with honors from the Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza (CATIE) in Costa Rica with a Master’s degree in Practical Biodiversity Conservation. She was a fellow of the Azuay Herbarium of the University of Azuay, a field assistant in projects of aquatic ecology, botany and entomology, and a thesis student of the Small Grants Program of UNDP-Colombia in the project “Sustainable South.” She has worked as a technician on projects of conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, advising decentralized autonomous governments on issues of environmental quality and sustainable development. Since 2019 she has been the Director of Environmental Management of the Prefecture of Zamora Chinchipe in which she leads the provincial environmental management with projects of conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, non-timber forest products, clean production and conservation areas.
